Question:
What is your definition of "Intermediate" lessons?
Answer:
The "Intermediate" guitarist is ready to explore various playing styles and begin to focus on learning more than the basics. We offer lessons that are an introduction to several playing styles. We'll continue to add advanced lessons in each of those styles. You can continue to grow in your playing as long as you want to.

Question:
What styles of music do you teach here?
Answer:
We address all the styles that give the guitar some level of prominence. A general list would be:

Blues, Rock, Jazz, Country and Classic guitar are the main areas but they are very general style descriptions. In other words, Jazz covers many "styles" like Modern Jazz, Jazz Fusion, Latin & Swing while Country covers "styles" like Western Swing, Bluegrass, New Country, Chicken Pickin' and Rock, well I could go on and on about all the styles we'll cover under "Rock."

Question:
What's the best way to start off as a total beginner?
Answer:
As a beginner you're faced with the most challenging yet rewarding stages of your development as a guitarist. We've taken great care to provide the tools needed to help the beginner to establish a good foundation for learning the guitar. If you're a beginner, you should pay close attention to the advice on the proper techniques for holding the guitar as well as efficient methods for right and left hand technique. Don't slight this part of the lessons for the sake of convenience.

The great thing about the HotFrets approach is that you can learn at your own pace! If you need to take a little extra time on one lesson or want to move ahead quickly, that's up to you. Also, since (as a member) you have access to all the lessons, you can take a peek at the intermediate and advanced lessons to see what's in store for you. Sometimes that can help to motivate you to get through the beginner lessons a little quicker. Just remember this, The hardest part is the beginning. Most people quit before they ever get out of the starting gates. At first, your left-hand fingers will experience a little soreness. As you continue to play through that stage, your finger-tips will develop callouses and the soreness will go away.

Everything you learn as a beginner will be a foundation for learning more. It is true that as you learn additional things on the guitar it's easier to learn the next thing and the next thing. . . That's why we say, "The more you learn, the easier it is to learn more!"

Question:
CAN I GET TRANSCRIPTION OF SONGS IN GUITAR TABLATURE ON HOT FRETS AND CAN I DOWNLOAD AND PRINT THEM OUT?
Answer:
There are some issues concerning copyright laws that prevent us from being able to give you transcriptions of songs. However, we have created a tool called Tab Alive! that allows you to turn your favorite tab into the HotFrets Interactive Format! You simply paste your tab into a web form and instantly you'll be able to step through the tab or loop a section controlling the speed while hearing the notes sound and seeing them on a guitar neck fretboard!
